KANSAS CITY – Mathematician and philosopher Dr. William Dembski, author of T he Design Revolution: Answering the Toughest Questions about Intelligent Design , will be the guest speaker at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary’s spring convocation Jan. 24 at 10 a.m.

“Bill Dembski will do an outstanding job of making the case for intelligent design,” said Midwestern President R. Philip Roberts. “His visit should help to clarify the notion that intelligent design really is the intelligent position on this issue.”

Dembski, a leading expert on intelligent design, has taught at Northwestern University, the University of Notre Dame, the University of Dallas, and Baylor University. He has done postdoctoral work in mathematics at MIT, in physics at the University of Chicago, and in computer science at Princeton University.

A graduate of the University of Illinois at Chicago where he earned a B.A. in psychology, an M.S. in statistics, and a Ph.D. in philosophy, he also received a doctorate in mathematics from the University of Chicago in 1988 and a master of divinity degree from Princeton Theological Seminary in 1996. He has held National Science Foundation graduate and postdoctoral fellowships.

Dembski is the Carl F. H. Henry Professor of Science and Theology at Southern Seminary in Louisville where he heads its Center for Theology and Science. He is also a senior fellow with Discovery Institute’s Center for Science and Culture in Seattle and the executive director of the International Society for Complexity, Information, and Design (w ww.iscid.org).

A regular lecturer on college and university campuses around the world, he has appeared on NPR, PBS, CSPAN2, CNN, Fox News, the Daily Show with Jon Stewart and ABC Nightline to speak on intelligent design issues.

Admission is free and open to the public. Midwestern’s chapel auditorium is located at 5001 N. Oak Trafficway, Kansas City.
