Missourians nominated for SBC slots

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Five Missouri Southern Baptists stand nominated to fill seats on Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) agency boards while five more have been named to serve on various SBC committees. All board nominees are subject to the approval of messengers attending the SBC’s annual meeting June 10-11 in Indianapolis.
Missouri Baptist Convention First Vice President Bruce McCoy, pastor, Canaan Baptist Church, St. Louis, is nominated for a trustee position at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, Ky. With a term expiring 2012, McCoy is slated to succeed G. Scott Perry, pastor, First Baptist Church, Sullivan, who was ineligible for another term.
John Edie, executive pastor, Second Baptist Church, Springfield, is nominated for a second term on the International Mission Board’s trustee board.
Kenneth Parker, senior pastor, First Baptist Church, Kearney, is nominated for a seat on the trustee board at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Kansas City. Parker succeeds Ralph Sawyer, pastor, First Baptist Church, Wentzville, who was ineligible for another term.
Randy Johnson, pastor, First Baptist Church, Kimberling City, is nominated for a second term, expiring 2012, on the SBC Executive Committee.
Gary Grunick, a layman from First Baptist Church, Troy, is nominated for a second term, expiring in 2012, to the trustee board of LifeWay Christian Resources.
Neil Franks, pastor, First Baptist Church, Branson, and Danny Hartwell, pastor, First Baptist Church, Hollister, have been named by SBC President Frank Page to the SBC Credentials Committee. Page also named Paul Purvis, pastor, First Baptist Church, Forsyth, to the Tellers Committee.
Page also named Parker to the SBC Committee on Committees along with Micah Fries, pastor, Frederick Boulevard Baptist Church, St. Joseph.

Meanwhile, Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary will host its annual Alumni & Friends Luncheon at noon, June 11, at the Indianapolis Marriott Downtown, in Marriott Ballrooms 7, 8, 9, 10 on Level 2, across the street from the convention center.
MBTS President R. Philip Roberts will be the featured speaker. Information also will be shared about the seminary’s “Building for the Future!” capital campaign.
